Kelp Burger Recipes: Kelp Burger Falafels

AKUA Falafel Wraps with Homemade Pitas
(Serves 4)

  • 4 AKUA Kelp Burgers
  • 2-3 large tomatoes
  • 1 zucchini
  • 2 1/2 cups kale
  • 1 large Shallot
  • Pita bread or pita dough (Google your favorite homemade pita recipe!)
  • Your favorite sauces, like hummus and tzatziki!


  1. Unwrap the Kelp Burgers and let thaw
  2. Finely chop your zucchini and shallot
  3. Oil the pan and sauté the zucchinis for 5 minutes then add the shallots
  4. Chop your tomatoes
  5. Season and add olive oil
  6. Slice and roll the pita dough
  7. Preheat oven to 550 and leave the pan in so it gets hot while it’s preheating
  8. Take thawed Kelp Burger mix and break it up with a spatula
  9. Roll into Falafel balls and place on a dish covered in plastic wrap so the balls keep their shape
  10. Let the balls sit while you roll out the pita dough
  11. Place pita onto the hot pan
  12. Pop them into the oven
  13. While the pitas cook, fry up the Kelp Falafels in a frying oil of your choice (we used vegetable)
  14. Keep them moving in the oil and watch them crisp with a dark brown exterior
  15. Remove Kelp Falafels with a hand strainer into a paper towel lined strainer bowl
  16. Watch your pitas during this process and take them out of the oven once they are slightly browned
  17. Then... prepare your Kelp Burger Falafels! Load ‘em up with all the good stuff! πŸ₯™πŸ˜‹
