Ingredients
- 4 AKUA Kelp Burgers
- 2-3 large tomatoes
- 1 zucchini
- 2 1/2 cups kale
- 1 large Shallot
- Pita bread or pita dough (Google your favorite homemade pita recipe!)
- Your favorite sauces, like hummus and tzatziki!
Directions:
- Unwrap the Kelp Burgers and let thaw
- Finely chop your zucchini and shallot
- Oil the pan and sauté the zucchinis for 5 minutes then add the shallots
- Chop your tomatoes
- Season and add olive oil
- Slice and roll the pita dough
- Preheat oven to 550 and leave the pan in so it gets hot while it’s preheating
- Take thawed Kelp Burger mix and break it up with a spatula
- Roll into Falafel balls and place on a dish covered in plastic wrap so the balls keep their shape
- Let the balls sit while you roll out the pita dough
- Place pita onto the hot pan
- Pop them into the oven
- While the pitas cook, fry up the Kelp Falafels in a frying oil of your choice (we used vegetable)
- Keep them moving in the oil and watch them crisp with a dark brown exterior
- Remove Kelp Falafels with a hand strainer into a paper towel lined strainer bowl
- Watch your pitas during this process and take them out of the oven once they are slightly browned
- Then... prepare your Kelp Burger Falafels! Load ‘em up with all the good stuff! 🥙😋
