The Kelp Burger is here!

I was prepared to come up with a nice response after eating this, but actually, it’s really rather delightful. It’s incredibly delicious. Well done.

Sir Richard Branson

I tried Akua Kelp Jerky and, no joke—I was actually floored… ...This kelp jerky has a tender, yet totally substantial, texture.

Modern Farmer

It’s really exciting how simple and natural the ingredients are in Kelp Jerky. It’s also soy free, dairy free and non-GMO. Clean and sustainable eating can benefit our bodies in so many ways imaginable. This snack is made for everyone to enjoy, not just for vegans and/or vegetarians.

Sustain the Mag

I didn’t expect to find a burger I truly craved. And I definitely didn’t expect that burger to be made of kelp...It’s chewy, salty, and smoky, and while nothing about the taste screams “seaweed,” there’s definitely a note of brine in there... I’d eat it even if it weren’t made of a super-cool, planet-saving seaweed.

Bon Appétit

These burgers made in Portland, Maine, are plant-based but not trying to be meat. Kelp is the main ingredient, and they’re bolstered with mushrooms, pea protein, quinoa, black beans, chickpea flour and seasonings for a satisfying veggie burger.

The New York Times

"Kelp is one of the most nutrient-rich foods you can eat, containing minerals that are hard to come by in the American diet, like manganese, thyroid-boosting iodine, and it's rich in vitamin C and iron.”

Dr. Mark Hyman

My family has been ordering these snacks for a while & we love them! We've recommend them to family & friends and have had them served at many family picnics and gathering. It is great to have snacks that taste good and also help the environment! These snacks have changed our lives!

Kemi O

“Alga is so underrated in its potential and the sea is just at its limit. We have to switch to the vegan lifestyle for all the well known reasons. This is an opportunity to put my money were my mouth is!”

Kelp in the time of climate change

Our ocean-farmed kelp is a zero-input crop that grows without dry land, fresh water, fertilizer or feed. Kelp also has the ability to remove carbon and nitrogen from our seas 5x more effectively than land-based plants do from the air, helping to reduce ocean acidification.

Since launch AKUA has used 40,000 pounds of regeneratively ocean farmed kelp responsible for removing 2,000 pounds (1 ton) of carbon from our oceans.

Comparatively, eating 300 beef burgers creates the same amount of carbon! In fact, animal agriculture, uses ⅓ of our planet's fresh water, ⅓ of our dry land, and is the 2nd largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in the world.
