A System of Support

A System of Support

We work with 100% farmer-owned farms to support local coastal communities and economies. We work in partnership with the nonprofit GreenWave and source our kelp from the women owned ocean-farming company Summit Point Seafood. We love the idea of supporting an entire generation of fishermen and women to be more “ocean gardeners” and less “ocean hunters”.

Our process

Our ocean farm structure is set into the ocean.

Spores are picked up from the hatchery on spools.

Spools of spores are then transferred to the farm site on a boat.

In the autumn, the farmer ‘plants the spores’ onto the farm.

She applies spools of spores to 3D ocean farm model and submerges spores onto the farm.

The farm is checked weekly throughout the winter including the weather and water temperature and crop density.

Our kelp harvest occurs between April - June as the water warms up.

Lines are brought up from the water and kelp is cut from the lines and placed into bins on a boat, ready to be transferred to our processing facility.

At the processing facility, kelp is blanched, frozen and packaged and shipped to our production facility.

Our Kelp is blended with Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Spices, and other Superfood ingredients

All fresh ingredients are then formed into burger patties and quickly frozen before shipping them off to you!
