All Things Kelp Pasta

Published by Eve Palmer, 8 Jan 2020

How to prepare:

1. Simply rehydrate AKUA's kelp pasta in a bowl of warm / room temp water for 5-6 minutes then drain in a colander.
2. Next, toss the wet kelp into a deep pan and cook it like you would kale or swiss chard (so with a little added water, salt, and olive oil).
3. Cook on medium heat for approx. 10 minutes until it's soft but still chewy.
4. Enjoy with your favorite pasta recipe... Algae-dente!

Our favorite ways to prepare it:

For an Italian vibe

Toss in a ton of fresh tomatoes, chopped portobello mushrooms, salt, olive oil, pepper, and garlic with your kelp pasta as it cooks, and then top with chopped basil and vegan parmesan. Serve with a Chianti!

For an Asian flavor

Toss cooked kelp pasta with shiitake mushrooms, shrimp or tofu, sesame oil, edamame, miso and/or soy sauce, salt/pepper, lemongrass, and then top with toasted sesame seeds. Serve with your favorite dry white wine.

Kelp is naturally high in vitamins like vitamin A, B12, C, and K, trace minerals like Potassium and Magnesium, Omega 3s, and antioxidants, including carotenoids, flavonoids, and alkaloids.

Our kelp is healthy for the planet too, helping to sequester carbon and nitrogen from our seas 20x more effectively than land-based plants do from the air!
